Tuesday Prayer: Ordinary Time
Father, I'm in Ordinary Time - weeks without festivals, days without drama, life without spectacular moments. I confess I struggle to maintain spiritual awareness when nothing extraordinary is happening. I chase emotional highs instead of encountering you in mundane moments. I treat Christianity as series of events rather than ongoing relationship.
Teach me to practice your presence in ordinary time - in morning coffee and evening commutes, in routine work and regular conversations, in laundry and dishes and tasks nobody notices. You're present in the mundane as powerfully as in the dramatic. Help me see you there. Don't let me waste ordinary days waiting for extraordinary moments.
Thank you for Jesus's thirty years of carpentry before three years of ministry. Thank you for Brother Lawrence finding you in kitchen clutter. Thank you that whatever I do for you matters - spectacular or mundane, noticed or overlooked, praised or invisible. This ordinary Tuesday is sacred ground because you're present. Open my eyes to see you here.
