Wednesday Prayer: Faithful Without Fame

Father, Matthias was chosen to replace Judas, witnessed Pentecost, participated in the church's birth, and then disappeared from Scripture. We don't know what happened to him. We don't know what he accomplished. We just know he showed up, met the requirements, and served when called. That's enough for you, but it challenges my need for significance.

I want roles that guarantee legacy, positions that ensure remembrance, opportunities that produce visible results. I want to know my life mattered, my service was noticed, my contribution made difference. But Matthias teaches faithfulness without fame, service without recognition, availability without glory.

Help me be faithful whether anyone remembers or not. Help me stay qualified whether I'm chosen or overlooked. Help me show up whether my role is visible or invisible. You chose Matthias for specific moment. You'll choose me for mine. Whether it's remembered or forgotten doesn't matter. What matters is faithfulness. Make me faithful like Matthias.
