Wednesday Prayer: Looking to the Mountain-Maker

Father, I confess I've been looking for help in wrong places. I've looked to my job for security, to relationships for fulfillment, to money for peace, to circumstances changing for relief. I've been trusting mountains when I need the Mountain-Maker. These secondary helps can't ultimately sustain me.

You're the Creator of heaven and earth. If you made everything, you can handle my problems. You never sleep, never fail, never abandon. You watch over me 24/7 - coming and going, day and night, now and forevermore. My help comes from you, not from things you've made.

Help me look to you as my ultimate source while enjoying secondary helps appropriately. Let me work hard without demanding my job provide security only you can give. Let me invest in relationships without expecting them to fulfill me in ways only you can. Let me manage money wisely without thinking it can provide peace only you supply. You're my help. Everything else is just mountains.
