Paul cataloged threats to his security: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?" (Romans 8:35). These weren't hypothetical dangers. Paul experienced all of them - beaten, imprisoned, shipwrecked, hu

Nothing can separate you from My love - not death, not life, not angels, not demons, not fears about today or worries about tomorrow. Nothing in all creation can separate you from My love in Christ Jesus. You're held by love that won't let go. Ever.

Father, I confess I measure my life by accomplishments rather than faithfulness, by impact achieved rather than obedience maintained. I want my life to matter significantly, to leave lasting marks, to accomplish impressive things. I'm uncomfortable with the possibility that my race might e

Yesterday the church remembered James, son of Zebedee, one of Jesus's closest disciples. He was part of the inner circle with Peter and John who witnessed Jesus's transfiguration (Mark 9:2), accompanied him to Jairus's house (Mark 5:37), and stayed closest during Gethsemane's agony (Mark 1

Run with perseverance the race marked out for you, fixing your eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Not someone else's race - yours. Not at someone else's pace - yours. Keep your eyes on Jesus, not the other runners. He's writing your story. Trust it.

Father, I'm in pain and I don't understand why. I've prayed for relief and you've provided comfort instead. I've begged for circumstances to change and you've sustained me through them instead. Like Paul in Asia, I feel pressed beyond my ability to endure. I've despaired. I've questioned.

Paul described his suffering in Asia as being "under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself" (2 Corinthians 1:8). This wasn't minor difficulty or temporary discomfort. He felt crushed beyond capacity, convinced he would die. The pressure was u

I'm the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts you in all your troubles so that you can comfort others. Your suffering isn't wasted. I'm preparing you to help others through what you've survived. The comfort you receive will become comfort you give.

Father, your timing makes no sense to me. I asked, you didn't answer. I prayed, you delayed. I begged, you were silent. Like Mary and Martha, I believe you could fix this situation but I can't understand why you haven't. The delay feels cruel. The waiting feels pointless. Your timing seems
